Bay Area wedding planner Ani Avakian’s business depends on delivering a flawless wedding for an indie movie star and her fiancée at a stunning Armenian-owned winery. The only problem? The winery owner, Raffi Garabedian, is almost as frustrating as he is handsome – and Ani can tell immediately that working with him is going to be…a lot.

Things take a much more complicated turn when Ani meets the bride’s fiancée, Kami. “Meets” isn’t quite the right word, though – Kami is Ani’s ex, the woman she once thought she would marry. And then comes the kicker: Kami also happens to be Raffi’s ex. Suddenly, Ani and Raffi are reluctantly (and hilariously) bonded by the task of planning their mutual ex’swedding, complete with bridezilla antics, unresolved feelings, and some truly uncomfortable proximity.

While the setup does require a bit of suspension of disbelief, the emotional core of this story is what really shines. Themes of being truly seen and valued (by others and by yourself) run throughout the book, and the inclusion of Armenian culture, food, family dynamics, and sweeping winery scenery adds so much heart. I also really appreciated the focus on bi-visibility, which still doesn’t get nearly enough attention in romance.

🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: Raffi Barsoumian and Christine Mirzayan do a really excellent dual narration of this one. You 100% feel like they were Ani and Raffi. (11h 24m)
