The Book of Luke by Lovell Holder (Dec 2, 2025) Thank you, @hachetteaudio for the gifted advanced listening copy – it was absolutely all-consuming! #hachetteaudioinfluencer
Luke’s carefully curated life as a stay-at-home dad married to the first openly gay GOP senator unravels when he discovers that his husband has had a series of affairs. Luke files for divorce but quickly realizes that he has been so focused on his family, he doesn’t have a career or income to fall back on. Then he gets a call – Endeavor – the wildly popular reality TV series is having a reunion season, and they are willing to pay big money to get Luke, a breakout star of the first few seasons, to return. The show had given him so much – love, friendship, a husband. But it had also ripped all of those from him. But he’ll do anything to ensure he can provide for his kids. But he could never have imagined what awaited him in a cut-throat game with hidden agendas, grudges, and shifting alliances. Plus, Luke has amends he needs to make.
Oh wow…I absolutely binged this book. The book is broken into five parts and each chapter aligns to a season and episode number from the Endeavor series, constructing in a non-linear format the relationships between the competitors – how they met, how the friendships and relationships were built and broken. It speaks a lot to how a unique shared, isolated experience creates a bond, a family, in a truly unique way. It is a character study intertwined with a diabolical, wild, fast-paced, high stakes story. I loved, loved, loved it.
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: Charlie Thurston does a fantastic job with the narration, deftly navigating a wide range of characters in a way that I was never confused despite this being a pretty big “cast” for the book. Highly recommend! (11h 32m)
