O Goalie Night by K.M. Gillis (Nov 1, 2024) This was a book that went on my holiday TBR too late in 2024 and I just didn’t get to it, so it was one I definitely wanted to make sure I grabbed this year – and as an added bonus, an audiobook came out in the interim!
Beth Michaels is finally launching her own life – away from the parents that treat her like a child, out from the shadow of her NHL hockey star brother, Ben. But she does appreciate that she and Ben will be living in the same city even though he can’t be bothered to pick her up at the airport. He pawns that off on his teammate Foster James. Foster James. Star goalie. Unnervingly handsome. Always brooding. Then her housing falls through and Foster offers his guest room. And these two people who have never felt seen by those around them slowly begin to see each other more clearly than anyone else.
Wow! Wow! What fun this book was…I loved that although Beth’s family saw her as a shrinking violet, that was not who she was at all. Foster also had a ton of depth and backstory. The way Gillis creates this Ottawa Otters community will leave you craving more and, good news, it is the first in the series! It is hard to beat a grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity hockey romance and this one is really fantastic!
