Never Over by Clare Gilmore (Oct 28, 2025) Thank you, Recorded Books Media, for the gifted advanced listening copy!
Paige Lancaster is so close to getting a songwriting contract, which would mean she could stop working double shifts as a waitress. But when a music exec comments that her lyrics seem to be holding back from more raw, powerful lyrics, she knows he is right. The last time she wrote with the emotion he describes is when she fell in love had had her heart broken by Liam Bishop. They haven’t spoken in four years but on impulse she reaches out to him and asks him to re-break her heart. Liam has other plans – he really wants a second chance for them to fall in love. He’s leading the crew on a major concert and they agree that she’ll join them for the three months of the summer tour – traveling across the country, sharing hotel rooms, and rediscovering a connection that changed both of their lives. But until they address what broke them apart before.
I absolutely love the way Gilmore writes emotion and there are so many crave-able moments she creates in both the past and the present between Paige & Liam. I loved the characters, the found family on the road and the repairing of relationships across the board. Normally I wish there was less drama in a book, but this time I kind of craved more – without spoiling anything, the reveal of what broke them apart in the past kind of lost me a little. It just didn’t feel like something you’d throw away a great love over. That being said, I think Claire writes realistic adult discussions about things in the present day for our characters and has them truly understand and respect each other’s emotions.
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: (10h 52m) Carly Robins does a good job navigating an east Tennessee accent for Paige but would have loved a slightly different voice imagined for Liam.
