Bourbon & Secrets by Victoria Wilder (Dec 6, 2024) This is me trying to focus on reading some of the books I have been most wanting to get to off of my TBR! (I read via KindleUnlimited and listened via Audible)
Lincoln Foxx is part of the reason people say no woman should fall in love with a Foxx because she’ll end up dead. His wife died, leaving him a single dad raising two girls. He doesn’t have the time or inclination for relationships and he hasn’t thought about Faye Calloway since he ran her out of town on years ago. But when she returns as a burlesque dancer working at his best friend’s speakeasy in small-town Fiasco, KY, Lincoln has a hard time looking away. Although Faye is a talented burlesque dancer, she’s an even more talented private investigator – and a dangerous case has brought her back to her hometown. Now she’s facing both a dangerous case and a dangerous attraction to Lincoln.
This is a series, like Rebel Blue Ranch, is one where I grew to love the whole series more and more with each book. The way Wilder writes romantic suspense perfectly balances the two aspects of the story and manages to develop unique characters with depth while also writing SPICY content. This one in particular is also fun and funny with Lincoln’s daughters bringing a ton of humor with their money making, money spending hijinks. They were two of my favorite characters. There was just so much great about the book – from the speakeasy and burlesque dancing to small-town gossip to the bourbon industry that is so much a part of the Kentucky mindset (I lived in KY for 5 years and it is just a fantastic place).
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: I really enjoyed eyeball reading Bourbon & Lies last year and when I learned the rest of the series would be available in duet narration, I decided it would be an incredible way to experience the rest of the series…AND I WAS SO RIGHT. The duet narration is FIRE! Lee Samuels and Megan Wicks are perfect!
