A Cozy Holiday by Kels and Denise Stone (Nov 21, 2025) I discovered Kels and Denise Stone this year and now (including this novella) I’ve read four of their books. There’s just something so fun about their writing!
When Joy Winters walks in on her boyfriend cheating on her only to have him blame her for his philandering because she cares about her job as a veterinarian too much, she’s finally had enough. But, cheating aside, even her boss thinks she works too hard. With the clinic closed for remodeling, Joy had some forced time off – but now she needs a place to live and too much time on her hands (see: cheating boyfriend). Then she sees an ad for a vet needed on a reindeer sanctuary just until the new year – and it comes with lodging. So she packs up her anxiety-prone rabbit and heads to Maine. Which is where she meets intolerably handsome single dad Jamie. Since the death of his wife, he’s been singularly focused on his girls and the sanctuary. Then Joy arrives and hits him like a bolt of lightning. But she’s only there for a month. Can they cave to their attraction without catching feelings? Seriously, we know the answer, but the ride sure is a ton of fun.
Such a fun, short novella with a ton of heart and Kels and Denise’s distinctive self-deprecating humor. They have a fantastic way of writing strong messy women and masculine men who profoundly respect women and aren’t afraid of their emotions. Just a joy to read everything they write. It has everything you want in a holiday novella: electric connection, quick burn, great side characters, a quirky small town, and a charming HEA.
