She quickly realizes that they genuinely need her help. Cameron Fox is a contractor moving from job site to job site, thankful that his career can provide a good life for his son but he’s conflicted about being away for long stretches while his ex and her new partner get most of his son’s time. But this current job – building a haunted village on the grounds of a gothic hotel – is unique. The hotel itself is fascinating and quirky. So is Lucy, the daughter of its owners. Although their first meeting starts off rocky, bickering quickly turns to banter and their chemistry is undeniable. But with the construction work set to wrap up in just four weeks, there’s no future for them. So, they are going to make the most of a no-strings-attached month together.
If you are looking for a quick, charming read that is both cozy and spicy, this one is such a treat! The hotel, the employees, the family dynamics are all fantastic. Although Lucy and Cameron’s relationship escalates quickly, it feels realistic. With many novellas it feels like there isn’t enough time to fully develop the story, but that’s not the case here. You get great character development, a richly described setting, and a truly charming conclusion!
