Summer People by Brittanee Nicole & Jenni Bara (June 6, 2025) Thank you, @simon.maverick, for the #gifted audiobook!

In the idyllic town of Monhegan, Maine, just 68 full-time residents call the island home. Everyone else? The “summer people”—tourists who swoop in for the season. Sheriff Fisher Jones has no patience for them. Between juggling the never-ending quirks of his neighbors (mail delivery apparently falls under his job description!) and stepping up as guardian to his young niece after a family tragedy, he has no time for outsiders.

Enter Elizabeth Sweet, a famous actress returning to her family’s island home after years away, desperate for privacy. She’s charmingly inept at handling the upkeep of her house, and the locals are not thrilled to welcome a celebrity “summer person.” But as she slowly wins over Fisher, his niece, and the close-knit community, a question lingers: can their growing connection survive the pressures of island gossip and the relentless media spotlight?

This was such a delightful grumpy/sunshine romance, layered with heartfelt family moments and a wonderfully strong arc for Fisher’s niece. (Single guardian stories with kids who actually matter to the plot are always favorites of mine!) The town itself is a star too – quirky, chaotic, and giving major Gilmore Girls vibes with its town meetings and eccentric locals.

🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: Narrated by Samantha Brentmoor, Connor Crais, Angelina Rocca, Avery Caris, and Teddy Hamilton – yes, that lineup! Most of the story unfolds as a duet between Brentmoor and Crais, but the additional narrators add richness at pivotal moments. If you love small-town romances with summer vibes and full-cast/duet performances, this one is a must-listen.

Heartfelt, charming, and brimming with coastal summer atmosphere, Summer People is a fantastic beach-listen.
