Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson (July 22, 2025) Thank you @prhaudio for the #gifted listening copy! #prhaudioinfluencer

Jet is just 27 and still waiting for her life to begin. But after being brutally attacked in her parents’ Vermont home following the town’s Halloween festival, everything changes. When she wakes in the hospital, she’s told the devastating truth: her brain injury is so severe that surgery will almost certainly kill her – but without it, she has just one week to live.

Faced with the impossible, Jet decides to use her final days to track down the person who tried to kill her. What follows is a chilling, race-against-time investigation where every moment matters, and every conversation could be her last.

I loved the bold premise of this novel – it’s a modern, electrifying homage to the 1950 film DOA (which, if you haven’t seen, is a must-watch classic). Holly Jackson paces the story brilliantly, pulling readers deep into Jet’s determination while layering in raw, emotional moments as her family grapples with her choice. The tension is a great emotional touchstone that asks: what does it mean to truly live when your days are numbered?

🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: The narration was engaging, though the performance occasionally leaned YA in tone – which felt a little at odds with this being Jackson’s adult debut. Still, it’s a strong listen for thriller fans who love audio. (14h 26m)

Dark, fast-paced, and heartbreakingly human—this one kept me hooked.
