Well, Actually by Mazey Eddings (August 5, 2025) Thank you, Macmillan Audio and St. Martin’s Press for the gifted advanced listening copy!
Eva Kitt didn’t picture her post-college journalism career involving hot dogs – but here she is, hosting Sausage Talk, interviewing B- and C-list celebrities while trying not to spiral. One night, after too much to drink, she posts a video on her social account calling out her college ex and social media darling, Rylie Cooper, for being the antithesis of the online persona he’s created for himself as the guy who deconstructs toxic masculinity to help men be better partners. When her post goes viral, Rylie comes on Sausage Talk and challenges her to let him prove he is a better man than he used to be by taking her on a series of dates and discussing them on his show. Eva wants nothing to do with him, but recognizes that this could be good for her career. Quickly, these manufactured dates start to feel very, very real.
This is my first Mazey Eddings book, and I’m now going to read EVERYTHING. I adored everything about this book – the hilarious banter, the commentary on workplace culture, the examination of toxic masculinity, the quirky friendships, and, most of all, the intoxicating connection between Eva and Rylie. It was also a great reminder that people can grow, evolve, and become different versions of themselves over time.
🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: This is my first book narrated by Ariela Crow, and I cannot wait for more! Just a fantastic job. I loved everything about her performance and how she leaned into the banter with her tone and delivery. (11h 33m)
