Along Came Amor: A Spicy Romance with Heart

Along Came Amor by Alexis Daria (May 27, 2025) I am kind of obsessed with books where there’s a wedding involved, and I am so glad to have picked up this book that, like Problematic Summer Romance, proved that I can indeed love an age gap, wealth gap romance!

Teacher Ava Rodriguez’s husband abruptly left her and left her with the wreckage of their divorce – both on paper and dealing with their close-knit families. The divorce has left her questioning herself in every way. So when she finds herself sitting next to a handsome stranger at a bar during a teachers’ conference, she does something uncharacteristic – she has a sizzling one-night, no-strings hookup with Roman Vasquez, who happens to be the hotel’s owner. Over the next year, they find themselves hooking up more regularly, and Roman is ok with her no strings at first, but as he gets to know her, he wants the strings. Then they discover that they’re the best man and maid of honor in the same wedding – and they need to travel to the destination to make last-minute decisions. It makes no strings almost impossible. And that is pretty messy, complicated, and wonderful.

I deeply related to Ava’s complicated relationship with her family and need to find a way to transition from being a pathological people pleaser to someone who puts her own needs first. Roman is simply a walking green flag. Like Ava, he has deep-seated family issues, but his are very different from hers. The whole story was a fun, spicy romp with depth and heart. Although it is the third in a three-book series, I read it without having read the others and really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be reading the others because I fell in love with them in this final installment.

🎧 Audiobook Thoughts 🎧 Seraphine Valentine narrated all three books in the Primas of Power series, and she did a really excellent job with this solo narration! (14 hrs and 5 mins)
