On her 25th birthday, Sierra makes the shocking discovery that she was adopted. She embarks on a journey of self discovery, including researching her birth parents and standing on her own from her adoptive parents. She buys a fixer-upper in the town which holds clues to her past and begins to process of remodeling her new home with the help of Caleb, a new contractor in town also looking to prove himself out from under the protective umbrella of his family. Neither wants a relationship and neither can explain the electric chemistry they share. But soon there is no denying it, and as they get closer to unraveling the truth behind Sierra’s birth, they both find something more – a sense of family and belonging with each other and in a small town they never expected to love.
I’ve said this about the entire series – this is NOT a rom-com. All of the books, including this one, are deeply emotional, deal with some complex and hard to process events, and are super spicy. They are also quick, all-consuming stories with addictive characters that recur throughout the series and you can’t help but root for!
