Someone Knows by Vi Keeland (June 17, 2025) Huge thanks to Simon Audio and Atria Books for the gifted advanced listening copy of this twisty, haunting psychological thriller that kept me hooked from the first line!
Elizabeth, a creative writing professor, lives for reading the work her students submit – until this semester. One of her online students turns in a story that isn’t fiction at all. It’s a retelling of a buried secret from Elizabeth’s past…a secret only a handful of people could possibly know. Because twenty years ago, Elizabeth lived it. And she knows exactly how the story ends: with a murder, one she committed.
Desperate to find out who’s behind the anonymous submissions, Elizabeth returns to the last place she ever wanted to go: her hometown in Louisiana. But home isn’t just full of memories, it’s full of landmines. The past is more dangerous than she ever imagined, and the people she once trusted may not be who they seem.
I read my first Vi Keeland book, Jilted, earlier this year and fell in love with her spicy romance. I was excited to learn that she is also an outstanding thriller author! Elizabeth is a complex, messy, beautifully flawed character, and the psychological tension in this book is gripping. Keeland keeps the suspense taut with flashbacks that unravel the truth piece by piece, all while layering in themes of guilt, identity, and the weight of buried secrets. This isn’t a gore-filled thriller. It’s an emotional, psychological one, and it works so well.
🎧 Audiobook Notes 🎧 Leslie Howard (a staple voice for Freida McFadden fans) and Aiden Snow (also the voice of Jilted) are excellent in this dual narration. Their voices brought the tension, heartbreak, and character dynamics to life so vividly. A totally immersive listen from start to finish. (8h 28m)
