When I shared a list of my favorite books featuring the one-bed trope and asked for recommendations, For the Plot came up over and over. Naturally, I had to read it—and I’m so glad I did!
Joey Beckham is on the cruise of a lifetime to Greece when a shocking betrayal upends her entire world. In the aftermath, she finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Cam Connelly, a fellow American in Greece who is also picking up the pieces of his life. They share an unforgettable 24 hours—including a stay at a hotel with only one bed—with no plans to ever see each other again. But fate has other ideas, and that one transformative day might just be the key to their future happiness.
I absolutely enjoyed this one! Dual POV romances always have extra depth when both characters are fully developed, and Katie Van Brunt nails it here. Joey and Cam each have compelling personal journeys, grappling with the need to prioritize their creative dreams after years of letting others dictate their lives. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Crete, the story beautifully captures how their time on the island becomes a turning point for both of them.
Don’t be fooled by the sweet cover—this book is spicy! The intimacy fits seamlessly into the dynamic of their relationship and feels authentic to the story. (Pro tip: If you like your romance extra spicy, don’t skip the bonus scene post-epilogue!)
I’m thrilled this is just the start of a series, with the next book focusing on Joey and Cam’s best friends, who were both memorable characters in this one. I can’t wait to dive into what’s next!
🎧 About the Audiobook 🎧
The audiobook, narrated in a delightful duet style by JF Harding and Alexis Paige, is a joy to listen to. At just over 10 hours, it’s the perfect length, and duet narration remains my favorite audiobook format.
