In a world where magic is real and witches possess unique abilities, Dina Whitlock stands out as a talented kitchen witch. Her gift? She can infuse emotions into her delicious creations, which she serves at her charming coffee shop. But Dina has a secretβ€”she’s been living under a hex that brings misfortune to any romantic partner as soon as love enters the equation. Determined to protect others from harm, she’s sworn off love, focusing instead on her friends, family, and her role as maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding. Falling for the handsome man who just walked into her shop is definitely not part of the plan.

Scott Mason, fresh from two years of traveling the globe healing heartbreak, has returned to London to take up his new post as curator at the British Museum and serve as the best man in his best friend’s wedding, but he can’t stop thinking about the captivating coffee shop owner he just met. Little do they know, their meddling friends have already decided that Dina and Scott are a match made in magical heavenβ€”and they’ll do whatever it takes to bring them together.

If you’ve ever thought a book cannot be super cozy and super spicy, this book is here to prove you wrong. Nadia El-Fassi has created a magical world filled with talking animals, sentient houses, and diverse magical talents, which adds depth and charm to the plot. The instant chemistry between Dina and Scott is electric, and their love story is so fun and funny as they navigate their meddling friends. The resolution of Dina’s hex is particularly satisfying and drives much of the tension, making for a feel-good, heartwarming read perfect for spooky season!

The audiobook is a dud narration, narrated by Ferne Marks and Owen Hall – two β€œnew to me” narrators and they both did an excellent job.
