by Laura Wood: From the cover to the premise, I knew this book would be a hit for me the moment I saw it. The story follows Clementine Monroe, who’s having a terrible dayβ€”she’s lost her dream job, her cheating ex has just moved out to be with his (surprise!) pregnant girlfriend, and she’s feeling down. To cheer her up, her sisters drunkenly cast a childhood spell, each making a wish for Clementine. While she doesn’t expect to get her dream job, meet her soulmate, and gain bigger boobs, she figures there’s no harm in trying. Instead, she interrupts a funeral, has a one-night stand, and reluctantly takes a job she desperately doesn’t want. Her new job involves helping Theo Elliot, one of the world’s most famous musicians, finish his album at a secluded home. Clementine knows musicians can’t be trustedβ€”her dad is one, after all. But as they spend time together, she sees Theo in a new light. The question is, can someone as famous as Theo ever lead a normal life?

I adored Clem and Theo, their chaotic yet sweet relationship, and how it developed throughout the book. Their messy, complex, and caring families (and Theo’s assistant) were also highlights. This was both a big celebrity romance and a tender story about finding your person. I really enjoyed it, even though it wasn’t necessary the magical realism book I was anticipating. Read if you like: Forced proximity, caretaking, healthy depictions of therapy, complex families, and celebrity romances.

The audiobook has a very well-done single narration that I also really liked.
