Book: ๐๐๐๐ซย Audiobook: ๐๐๐ Spice: ๐ถ๏ธ
by A.E. Gauntlett (Aug 13, 2024) Many thanks to @macmillian.audio for the advanced listening copy! Below is my honest review.
From the day Annie first saw Mark on a commuter train, she just knew. Their whirlwind romance culminated in a beautiful wedding with friends, family, and a stranger posing many questions to attendees. With each inquiry, the feelings of unease and distrust mount, casting a shadow over the nuptials and causing them to reflect on what they know (or don’t know) about each other.
Sometimes, you need an utterly wild thriller – and this one totally fits the bill. There are multiple narrators, and the story skips through time to piece together the series of events that brought a mysterious stranger to their wedding. For most of the book, I was trying to figure out what to believe or who the protagonist might be. I ultimately saw one of the twists coming, but not all of them (there were many). I don’t have a print copy of the book, but my one critique of the story via audio is that the chapters switch between multiple narrators without proclaiming whose POV we are switching to, so sometimes it took me a few sentences to discern who the narrator was and I’d often backtrack and re-read once I figured it out.
