by Meg Shaffer (July 16, 2024) – Thank you @randomhouse and @prhaudio for the #gifted print and audio copies of this magical story! Below is my honest review.

Fifteen years ago, teen best friends Jeremy Cox and Rafe Howell went missing in the West Virginia woods. When they reappeared just as mysteriously six months later, their lives were forever altered. Rafe, with no memories of the missing time but covered in scars, became a reclusive artist, struggling to cope with his new reality. Jeremy, on the other hand, became a world famous finder of lost children, using his experience and uncanny ability to sense those who are lost to help others. And they haven’t seen each other since they returned. When Emilie Wendell approaches Jeremy about finding her sister who vanished from the same woods as Rafe and Jeremy five years before they did, Jeremy realizes this is the sign he has been waiting for. But he must make amends with Rafe to see it through, because Jeremy remembers everything from their missing time and will need Rafe to reunite Emilie and her sister. Thus starts a magical journey to discover the truth behind their disappearance, destiny, and the true meaning of home, a journey that underscores the enduring power of love.

A magical coming of age story and a tribute to childhood imagination, The Lost Story is about family, friendship, and the sacrifices we make for love. This is the magical feel-good book you need to read! With its enchanting blend of mystery, adventure, and heartwarming relationships, The Lost Story is a uniquely captivating read. When chatting with my friend @not.enough.bookshelves_, we agreed that this book is like if The Princess Bride and the Narnia series had a baby but had been in previous relationships with Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. It could have gone on for another 100 pages and it still wouldn’t have been enough of this world. Luckily, it felt like the door was left open for a potential second book.
