That’s what happened with this lovely friends to lovers second chance romance. Many thanks to @macmillan.audio for the gifted audiobook. Below is my honest review.

Emerson and Theo were inseparable best friends all through high school. When they were 18 they made a marriage pact – if neither was married in 10 years, they’d get married.  Then the summer after graduation they finally got together only to be heartbroken and ripped apart before they even had a chance to see if things could work. Now Emerson is the top supermodel in the world and Theo is a photographer. When Emerson gets a reminder from the past about the marriage pact, she hunts down Theo on a photo shoot in Italy as her last chance to rekindle her one great love after 10 years of radio silence. After ten years, can Emerson and Theo heal the wounds of the past and see if they might have a future during a 5 day photo shoot or have their lives changed too much in the last decade?

This book is a dual POV, dual timeline story that takes readers from the lush Italian coast in the present to the north shore of Boston ten years ago. From their first interaction, you immediately get the connection between Emerson and Theo – both in the present and the past. I love how Betty created a story where a supermodel was such an incredibly relatable and down to earth character while still being honest about the chaos of that life. Bouncing between the past and the present, readers can’t help but root for these two as they struggle with the past and pine for the future. They are surrounded by friends and family that give them genuine, heart-felt advice. On a personal note, the past of this book is set exactly where I live. Betty perfectly described the  schools, bagel shop, local dairy and so much more about this unique community outside Boston.
