When single mom Alice encounters a man sitting alone on the beach, she inadvertently finds herself in the middle of a mystery. The man has no idea who he is or how he got there. Because Alice is known equally for kindness and poor decisions, no one is surprised when she invites the stranger to shelter in the studio in her backyard. Over 200 miles away, newlywed Lily reports her husband missing when he fails to return home from work, only to discover that the person she thought she married never existed. Twenty years ago, a tragedy rocked a family during their annual vacation. 

Jewell manages to tell three distinct stories that kept me engrossed and curious about how they intersect. I was convinced I had it all figured out, only to be proven wrong again (!!) by Jewell’s expert storytelling. This is a really entertaining thriller with tons of twists!

The audiobook, narrated by Helen Duff, one of the narrators I immediately associate with the modern British thriller, is very fun.
