Dragons hadn’t been seen for over 500 years, but when Princess Elowen Atarah of Imirath was born, five fossilized dragon eggs were gifted in her honor. To everyone’s shock, the eggs hatched, and five vibrant dragons emerged, bound to Elowen with a chilling prophecy—she and her dragons would either bring glory or ruin to the kingdom. By age four, Elowen was imprisoned by her father and separated from her dragons out of fear for her power. After years of captivity, she escapes, spending over a decade in hiding, honing her skills and awaiting her chance to reclaim her dragons and seek vengeance on her father.

Her path intertwines with Cayden Veles, the kingdom’s most feared and ruthless battle commander. Though their motives differ, their goal is the same: infiltrate the castle of Imirath and reclaim the dragons. Together, they face treacherous journeys filled with deception, battles, and danger while discovering an undeniable connection between them.

This book had me hooked from start to finish! What I love most about this story is the dynamic between Cayden and Elowen. Both are equally strong-willed and relentless, complementing each other’s strengths rather than needing protection. The found family of fighters around them adds depth as they unite against power-hungry rulers, loyalists, and constant danger. The world-building is woven seamlessly into the action, immersing you in this magical realm without slowing the pace.

The audiobook, narrated by Hannah Van Der Westhuysen, is fantastic. She captures the intensity of the battles, the tenderness of the budding romance, and the snarky, electric chemistry between the main characters.
