by Tessa Bailey – When @purplecouchbookshop picked this for our book of the month, I was a little hesitant because I have been pretty frustrated with some of her past books, but I’m so glad I tried this one because it exceeded my expectations and was a fun read!

Josephine Doyle is Wells Whitaker’s biggest fan. Well, right now, she might be his only fan. Once one of the top golfers on the circuit, Wells is now drunk more than he is sober and in the rough more than the fairway. His attitude has turned off fans, fellow golfers, his mentor, and his agent. So, when he quits golf, no one is surprised except Josephine – and Wells takes out all of his pent-up frustration on his last remaining fan during his dramatic exit from his final tournament. But when a hurricane strikes and Wells wakes from a bender, his first thought is for his fan and her pro shop, which is in the path of destruction. Refusing to take his money to help rebuild, Wells hatches a plan. If he can work his way back and get a place in upcoming tournaments, she can earn her money as his caddie. This unusual deal sparks media interest, and Josephine becomes the first caddie ever to get through to Wells. But their electric chemistry tests their ability to keep their relationship purely professional – and because this is a Tessa Bailey novel, we all know they do not keep it professional.

Fangirl Down now resides alongside Hook, Line and Sinker as Tessa Bailey books I enjoyed. Josephine and Wells genuinely are a team; they see each other and treat each other as equals – which I love. Their banter, teamwork on the field, fun interactions with her parents, and how they both come to important realizations about who they want to be are all excellent aspects of this novel. Were there more spicy scenes than I thought were necessary? Absolutely. Did I have trouble with his anger management? Yep. Did she seem to move directly from overprotective parents to an overprotective partner? Definitely. Overall, however, it is an entertaining sports romance.

The audiobook version, brought to life by the talented Callie Dalton, was an absolute delight. I found myself completely engrossed, listening at 2.0x speed and finishing it in a single evening.
