by Sophie H. MorganβI am totally charmed by this series. De-Witched is the second book, and it does a great job building on the first and really evolving the characters and community.
Leah is a human who co-owns the bar Toil and Trouble with her two witchy best friends. Gabriel Goodnight is a powerful warlock forced to spend three months in the human world without using magic to inherit the family business. As Gabriel navigates a life without magic, Leah helps him discover much about himself and humanity. Their relationship slowly evolves in the human world. Still, there is a clock ticking on their relationship from the beginning, and their relationship is doomed from that start because a human canβt be part of the magical world without great sacrifice.
The bar and the animal shelter continue to play critical roles in the story. Leah is deeply involved in both businesses, and Gabriel discovers he is a terrible bartender but an excellent animal shelter volunteer. This is a sweet, charming series about love, friendship, and adorable animals. My love of the series grew with this book, and Iβm 100% committed to the series going forward.
The audiobook is narrated by Natalie Duke, who has also narrated many Lucy Score books. She does a great job with this one, particularly since there are many characters and dialogue scenes.
