What if more men read romance novels? That question is at the heart of this fun book that SO MANY people have recommended to me.

Gavin Scott is in the middle of a marriage meltdown. His relationship was already rocky when he discovered that his wife had been faking it in the bedroom for their entire 3-year marriage, and, well, he handled it poorly. When Thea asks for a divorce, he realizes he has to win her back, but instead, he keeps making things worse. That’s when he discovers a secret book club comprising Nashville’s elite men of power and fame. They read romance novels to help their relationships, and they believe that Courting the Countess can help Gavin win back Thea.

There are a lot of layers to this book. It is such a fun rom-com, but it is also a book about men showing emotion, the complexities of marriage, what it feels like to lose your identity to your partner, and that to fix things in the bedroom, you have to figure out the root cause outside the bedroom. It is full of great characters, and the regency romance is an absolutely hilarious lens through which these tough guys help Gavin reinterpret his marriage.
