It has been a long time since I’ve read a rip-roaring, action-packed espionage thriller, and this one was an excellent read.

This book takes you on a global journey with the CIA to find a missing treasure. Starting with a downed CIA plane, the action is unrelenting as Argylle, living a low-key life in Thailand, makes his transition to action hero as they navigate maps, codes, secret rooms, hidden Nazi treasure, and much more. Led by Frances Coffey, the CIA’s most legendary spymaster, Argylle and the rest of the CIA team begin to gel, and Argylle shows his innate ability as an elite spy.

This book, which has already been made into a 2024 movie starring Henry Cavill as Argylle, has been the center of much speculation about the author’s identity (No, I do not think Taylor Swift wrote it). So, I was anxious to see if the book lived up to the hype. It is a fantastic story that reads like an action-adventure film. If you are looking for a new espionage thriller that also feels like an homage to classic spy thrillers, this is it!
