Book: ππππ Audiobook: ππππ Spice: πΆοΈπΆοΈπΆοΈ
by Rosie Danan
Iβm a huge fan of Dananβs work (The Roommate is a must-read), so when @PRHaudio provided an advanced listener copy of the audiobook, I jumped at the chance to read this unique enemies-to-lovers workplace romance where the enemies are a curse breaker and an archeologist and the workplace is an ancient Scottish castle.
Riley Rhodes comes from a family of curse-breakers, but sheβs the first to try to make a living at it. Her first big client has hired her to break the curse at an old Scottish castle. When she arrives in the small town, she is pleasantly surprised to instantly connect with another out-of-towner at the local bar, until she arrives for her first day at the castle only to find him attempting to get her fired. Clark Edgewater is in the midst of a career crisis, and he needs this job to go perfectly to restore his reputation in the archeology community – which means he doesnβt need a fake curse-breaker hanging around. Riley and Clark become locked in a bitter battle despite their electric attraction until they begin to unravel the mysteries of the castle and the curse together, sharing new parts of each other in the process.
What Danan does expertly in her books is creating a wildly enjoyable, light-hearted, spicy read that bubbles just under the surface with critical messages about believing in yourself, the power that comes from having a partner who believes in you, and demanding the respect you deserve from those around you.
Thanks to @PRHAudio for the advance listener copy! The dual narration of the audiobook is outstanding, and the accents are perfect. #PRHAudioPartner
