Iβve been waiting for this book since Sloane and Lucian were introduced in Things We Never Got Over, but I was also excited to return to Knockemout, and this wonderfully wacky world @scorelucy has created.
Spoiler-Free Summary: In the third and final book of the Knockemout series, long-time enemies and childhood neighbors Lucian and Sloane take center stage. Lucian was raised in an abusive home and has spent his adult life building a powerful empire to escape his past, with no intention of ever settling down. Sloane is the spitfire Knockemout community librarian who has decided that it is time to start a family. They are constantly fighting and connected by some dark secret neither is willing to share. When fighting unexpectedly turns to fire in the bedroom, these two end up in a big mess. Amongst all this, someone out to get Lucian and Sloane may be his weakness.
My Thoughts: Oh, good grief, can Lucy Score write a book! This book is 581 pages, and I read it in 2 days. TWO DAYS. Like all of this series, the pages fly by. I loved the first two books, but this book is the payoff. I love that there is an overarching crime they are trying to solve that threads through the three books and comes to a dramatic and satisfying conclusion here – it uniquely unifies the books while the relationships are still at the forefront. Lucian and Sloane are snarky banter, electric chemistry perfection (as in the first two books), but you also learn of the decades-long connection that binds them. Additionally, almost all of the characters from the previous books return, and two epilogues provide excellent HEA closure for the series. You must read this series in order to appreciate it. There are many short-handing character introductions because that already occurred in previous books.
Audiobook: It was awesome, like the first twoβan absolute blast to listen to.
