Book: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ ๐Ÿ’ซ Audiobook: ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Spice: N/A

By Taylor Adams

Have you ever posted a negative book review and worried you might hurt the authorโ€™s feelings? Me too. But I never thought theyโ€™d stalk and try to kill me. Thatโ€™s the premise of this novel that takes lots of twists and turns.

The first ~10 chapters of this book are scary (like, donโ€™t be home alone, donโ€™t read a night scary) – and they are SO GOOD! After that, the book shifts gears to more of a dual POV between the reviewer/victim and the author/killer. During some violent and scary activities, there was definitely humor in the different perspectives – the author/killer portraying themselves as strong and in control. In contrast, the victim sees things very differently during their battle for survival.

The first part of this book was GREAT, but the latter half faltered for me. There were so many near escapes and captures that you wanted it to end one way or the other. Also, there werenโ€™t many characters in the book, so you knew early on who was good and who was bad. You were just along for the ride while the main character figured it out.

I enjoyed the audiobook performance, which overcame some weaknesses in the story. There are some trigger warnings for death of an infant and suicidal thoughts.
