Book: ๐๐๐๐๐ Audiobook: ๐๐๐๐๐
By Lisa Jewell
When two strangers celebrate their 45th birthday at the same restaurant, their lives are irrevocably intertwined and changed forever.
Alix is a famous podcaster with a seemingly perfect life; Josie is unhappy in a life she didnโt envision for herself. When they run into each other again, Josie proposes Alix do a podcast series on how she got to where she is as she attempts to change her life. Alix is fascinated and horrified by the story of Josieโs life, and as she gets deeper into the tale, Alix becomes a part of the story in perilous ways.
The less you know about this book, the more you will enjoy it. Written from both Alix and Josieโs perspectives and sprinkled with excerpts from the podcast, Netflix series, and text messages, it is an inventive and fast-paced story that had me on the edge of my seat for every page. It is one of those stories where all the characters are flawed in unique ways, and, as the title implies, you are questioning the truth until the very last page.
The audio and print books are VERY DIFFERENT experiences. The audio is a full-performance production, so it feels more like a play than a book being read. I enjoyed both, but each is a unique experience. I found myself bouncing between the two to get both experiences.
