By Katie Bailey
So, I must be in my Katie Bailey era as I decided to go back and read this book, which precedes I Think He Knows, and I’m delighted I did. After finishing a few intense thrillers, this lighthearted enemies-to-lovers book was just what I needed.
Annie is reinventing her life, coming off of a shit breakup, and moving back home to start a new job. When a flight delay causes a series of mortifying events, ultimately causing her to share the last room at the hotel with her super grumpy and way too attractive seatmate, she is surprised to awake wrapped in his warm and comforting embrace. Thankfully, she’ll never have to see him again – until she discovers that he is the tightly wound and by-the-book company founder at her new company. In increments, she finds that his rough exterior masks a soft andn m As they grow closer, they struggle to deny their growing attraction.
Liam and Annie are sweet and funny. They are both more complex and fully formed characters dealing with a lot. Bailey writes them each with evident heart while giving them realistic concerns and flaws. For fans of her work, you’ll enjoy cameos from Connor and Aiden, the characters at the center of The Roommate Situation and The Neighbor War.
This closed-door romance novel still has lots of steam and pining. The audiobook narrators are both excellent.
