Book: πππ Audiobook: πππ
By Kayla Olson
I loved the premise of this bookβ¦a reunion show for a popular teen series is green-lit 20 years after its debut. When all of the actors come back together, the complex dynamics of their relationships from decades ago resurface.Β
Two decades ago, Liv and Ransom were the stars of one of the most popular teen shows in the world. They were also best friends. However, after the series ended, they iced each other out and havenβt spoken in almost 15 years. Now each successful actor (He as an action hero, she as an indie darling) must face what happened years ago and finally face the truth of their feelings.
The primary and secondary characters were incredibly well-crafted and had interesting backstories. You got the sense that growing up on a tv set must bond you to your casemates in ways that differ from the everyday teenage experience. However, miscommunication is my least favorite trope, and this ENTIRE BOOK is miscommunication. It was incredibly frustrating. Also, I love a good closed-door romance, but this book isnβt an open or closed door; it is ABSENT of any acknowledgment of their physical relationship. Considering this story is about adults who used to be teen stars, it would seem natural to address the βadultβ parts of their relationship – which is almost entirely missing.
If you like the miscommunication trope, this is a lot of fun. If you donβt, this book may frustrate you.
