Book: ๐๐๐๐ Audiobook: ๐๐๐๐
By Christina Lauren
Jessica is a single mom who, as a data scientist, doesnโt believe in fate.
She believes in numbers and mathematical probability. When she discovers a dating app that says it can use DNA and data analysis to find your soulmate. She can get behind an analytical approach to love. The app results return an unheard-of match level of 98%. Unfortunately, her so-called soulmate is the total jerk who invented the app. In Jessโs eyes, Dr. River Pena is utterly full of himself and couldnโt be further from soulmate material. With investors and the companyโs reputation on the line, they strike a bargain. Theyโll pay Jess to get to know River and attend PR events as the perfect match. With her troubled finances and his professional reputation at risk, they embark on a funny, sweet, and thought-provoking journey to determine if love can be quantified.
The evolution of Jess and Riverโs relationship is sweet and funny. Because of their intelligence, they each assume that they completely understand the other – only to be proven 100% wrong about their first impressions. On top of this being a great love story, my favorite part is how Riverโs relationship with Jessโs daughter is handled. It is wonderfully thoughtful how Junoโs feelings are at the forefront as Jess and River navigate dating. As always, Iโm a sucker for a book where family and found family play an important role, and thatโs the case for both River and Jess.
