I highly recommend this series if you love young adult thrillers/mysteries! In addition to being fantastic thrillers, Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell are relationship goals.

Audrey Rose was born into privilege, living a life of teas and balls in late-1800 England, but she aspires to study forensic medicine with her uncle, secretly dressing as a boy to attend classes. Soon her uncle brings Audrey Rose and his other protege, Thomas Cresswell, into his laboratory for advanced studies as they work with the police and against time to stop serial killer Jack the Ripper.

This series is a fun mix of fact and fiction (each book focuses on a different real or fictional historical figure). Still, the core of this series is the relationship between Audrey Rose and Thomas. In a time when women were expected to focus on family and social activities, Thomas appreciates Audrey Rose for her mind and actively supports her forensic goals – although he wishes she would stop putting herself in perilous situations.
