Book: ππππ
Audiobook: ππππ
By Chloe Liese
Because Iβm counting down the days until the next book in the series is released, Iβm going back through the Bergman family series by Chloe Liese. It would be fun to review them all as part of that. This series should be read to get the most out of the interwoven storylines of the characters.
Although she is the future of womenβs soccer, Ryder thinks his classmate Willa is chaos with a temper. Willa thinks Ryder is a cocky lumberjack. When their professor forces them to work together, things start off very rocky. However, as they begin to understand what lies beneath their perceptions of one another, they begin to rethink how they see each other. But will the secrets they keep and the walls they build up keep them from finding love?
This is the first book in the Bergman series. When I first read it, I thought it was a delightful book. However, only after I read a few more in the series did I realize what an excellent job this book does setting up the dozen or so characters that will be meaningful over the following 6-8 books. Ryder and Willaβs transformation over the course of the book evolves in such a natural way, and you see how family is at the core of both of their lives – although in very different ways. It is also the beginning of an A-frame house in the woods, becoming the central character of a multi-book series. I love that A-frame.
As with all of her books, Chloe Liese masterfully weaves in representation in ways and normalizes imperfections as beautiful and lovable as part of her characters.
