The third and final installment in the Last Hours series, Chain of Thorns, pulls together the final threads of series in the same way, Cassandra Clare does with all of her books – profoundly satisfying and leaving you wanting more. In 1903 London, James, and Cordelia must fight to save their fragile marriage. Lucy and Cordelia must face the ramifications of their decisions. All of The Merry Thieves, their friends, and their families come together to face down enemies and save London to save the world.
Although this is the third in the series, it is also the 15th book in the series (not including the collections of short stories). I ADORE this series because of the complex way characters intertwine from book to book and series to series. The stories span from the late 1800s to the present day, with some characters woven into all the stories, but the reading order follows a different timeline. Instead, you bounce between times in a way that further informs both past and future books.
